On August 11th, the Lightning hosted the North Division Louisville Patriots for the first game of the 2018 season at Brooks Field. The Mighty Mites fought a very tough game in which they led most of the game 6-0 after a 70 yard TD run by Cayden Simpson. It wasn't until late in the 4th quarter that the Patriots drove down and scored a TD and the extra point leaving very little time left on the clock. The team fell 6-7 for a tough first week loss against the Patriots.

The PeeWees ran into a very tough Patriots team coming off a city championship that left very little room for doubt they are back with vengeance this season. The final score was 33-0 as the Patriots scored 21 unanswered points in the first half and held the Lightning scoreless.

To wrap up the final contest of the day, the Lightning Juniors found themselves in a defensive battle all day long with the Patriots. After a punt return Touchdown by Connor Johnson and extra point by Karwin (Butter) Pope early in the first quarter, both teams battled down the stretch as the Lightning outlasted the Patriots for their first victory of the season 7-0.

Great first week of football action and looking forward to a strong season as the teams prepare for Hikes Point in week 2.
