When does practice start?
Practice traditionally starts the last week of June, with full equipment practices beginning after July 4th.  Voluntary conditioning workouts and camps begin late spring, into June and may be held on weeknights and weekends. (Dates TBD)

We are governed by the Louisville Youth Football League (26 clusters around the region) and all follow the same practice, game schedules.

Practice Date/Time? Game schedule?

  • Mighty Mites, Pee Wees and Juniors practice M-Tues-Thursday evenings from 6-8pm.

  • Senior practices are to be determined right now.

  • Games begin with our pre-season Jamboree, Aug 1st and continue through Championship games on October 31st/November 1st.

Games are traditionally played on Saturday Mornings/Seniors on Sundays:
Mighty Mites: 10 am
PeeWee: 11:30 am
Juniors: 1pm

Seniors: SUNDAYS, after noon

Safety at Games:

The safety of our staff, kids and fans is very important to us. Each game is required to have a police/peace officer on site during all games. We also observe a "Zero Tolerance" rule against all disruptive behavior at our games and events.

What if my Son played at a different LYFL program last year?
All players have the option to switch to any LYFL team during sign ups without influence.

If a signed application is currently held for the 2020 season, a player can sign up with any LYFL team, but must be granted a release from that cluster president to play for another LYFL team. A copy of the release must be submitted to the league commissioner.

Lyndon Lightning Football furnishes each player the following –

  • Helmet

  • Shoulder pads

  • Game jersey

  • Game Pants

The remaining needed equipment is provided by the parent/guardian.

Are Parents allowed to coach?
We always welcome parent participation.  Lyndon Lightning Football has a Football Committee that meets with any incoming parents that may have an interest in coaching or serving as committee members or assist with the program.  Ultimate Coaching decisions are made by the President and Vice President of Football Operations.

Your fundraising will go toward:

  • Supporting our teams, by assisting in obtaining supplies and equipment.

  • Provide scholarships to participants who require financial assistance to participate in our programs.

  • Maintenance for safe playing surfaces

  • Training for coaches and athletes to ensure proper Heads-Up-Tackling and USA Football programs are installed and updated.
